Covering the power range from 0.1 to 22 kW, Danfoss MCI soft starters are ideal for a wide range of start and stop applications where smooth operation is required.
Use them on pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, gear or belt driven machinery and countless other types of equipment.
MCI is designed for unlimited number of operations per hour and is just as easy to specify and install as an ordinary contactor.

Smooth motor control
Soft starters can prevent torque surges in motors from damaging the equipment they are meant to control. Soft starters type MCI provides precise phase angle control while reducing shocks and vibrations during motor starting and stopping. In addition reduced inrush currents during motor start-up eliminate voltage drops that can cause damage to other electronic equipment.

Universal control voltage
The soft starter type MCI is designed for line voltages up to 600 V a.c., feature a universal control voltage, and automatically adjust to 50/60Hz operation.

Robust power chip design
At the heart of every soft starter type MCI is a new power chip that eliminates the thermal problems, which cause early burnouts in traditional solid state technology. We call the technology "LTE", for low thermal expansion.

Short-term overload of up to 800%
Electrical motors, which - dependent on the application typically have a start current of five to eight times the nominal load current, do not constitute any limitation of the start circuit and moment. This, because the power chip of the soft starter is designed to obtain a high power density, carrying capacity, and integration. This way both electrical and thermal design are optimized for these applications, which enable a short term overload of up to 800% of the nominal current.

Compact modular design
The panel builder friendly units are designed that they can be mounted side-by-side, touching each other, without making special rating allowances. The rating is at the usual ambient temperature of 40 degrees centigrade. DIN rail mounting is the same as for conventional contactors.

Easy selection: Fit and Forget
Soft starters type MCI is refreshingly easy to work with as simple to specify and install as standard electromechanical devices. It only takes a moment to configure them, and there's no need for heat sinks or varistors. Select the soft starter based on the motor rating, mount it in the panel using the DIN rail mounting system, connect it to the supply and control voltage and fit it to the load by using the potentiometers in front of the unit to adjust ramp-up time, ramp-down time and initial torque. All the settings stay on their position as they are locked in grooves.
